Mel Halbach Mel's six trips to Vietnam dating back to 1991 culminated in his award winning documentary The Long Haired Warriors. His other film awards include Best Documentary, Experimental for The Game at the Ann Arbor Film Festival; Best of Show for The Game at the 1991 Utah Film and Video Festival, and Honorable Mentions for his other short films at festivals in New York and Utah. He has twice been the recipient of the Mort Rosenfeld Award honoring Utah film makers of promise. Mel has produced and edited several Vietnam short films and was the Editor and Assistant Cinematographer for another feature length Vietnam documentary, The Healing Continues, produced and directed by Carla Woodmansee. Mel received a B.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin Madison and an M.F.A. in film from the University of Utah. Mel worked as an Associate Instructor in Film Studies and was Producer and Director of the Media Center at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah from 1994-2000. He produced over 35 videos and an international video filmed in Taiwan and Vietnam for the Eccles School of Business. |
